Students will have the opportunity to meet with various stakeholders in Uganda’s healthcare system to examine the challenges faced by Uganda’s healthcare system and to explore opportunities for overcoming these difficulties. This program is ideal for students studying towards a medical or allied health qualification. Intercultural Communication is a growing area of importance considering the pace and volume of global transactions and commerce. Through this course, students will learn the essentials of cross-cultural interaction and communication. Students will also examine and analyze the dynamics of intercultural communication, cultural identities and different communication styles. Topics such as stereotypes, generalizations, communication strategies, and communication orientations will be explored.
Through this interdisciplinary course, students will acquire knowledge and develop skills that enable deeper understandings of Africa and the African diaspora and their relationship to world culture with their arts, labor, resources, and civil and human rights ideologies. Learning in Uganda will allow students a better framework with which to critique and contribute to academic topics of interest and also appreciate the cultural diversity and peoples.
Through this course, students will be able to form concrete linkages between their academic course work and the complex realities of international development in the developing world. Students will have the opportunity to learn from various grassroot community-based organizations and government development partners that are focused on improving quality of life through a wide array of development initiatives. Through these initiatives, students will examine the social challenges faced by different communities in Uganda and will explore opportunities for overcoming these difficulties.
This course will introduce students to conflict management, conflict resolution, conflict transformation, peace-building and state-building theories and practices. Students will gain practical skills needed to contribute to nonviolent peace-building efforts and to understand the root causes of structural and direct conflict while examining measures to foster resettlement and reconciliation. The influx of refugees from Uganda’s neighbors, the legacy of Kony, and the past civil wars, presents Uganda as an ideal location for this study.
This course will introduce concepts of educational development in the developing world and help students understand the contested nature and form of education in contemporary sub-Saharan Africa and the related challenges towards the sustainable development goals. This course will also explore the relationship between education and wider social processes in contexts of poverty and inequality, and critically examine relevant contemporary policy issues, with a focus on Uganda.

As the decolonization of study abroad emerges as a subject of inquiry and importance, we encourage collaborative and critically informed programming that integrates the standpoint of the Global South. We seek to address the one-sided and exploitative patterns of the flow of information, knowledge, and other benefits
We are unique and special because of our focus to create meaningful global connections whilst preparing young adults to succeed in an increasingly globalized world. We are among the few organizations in the region wholly dedicated to providing transformative and life-changing study abroad programs.
